Best Top Autumn Treks (2026): Himalayan Treks to explore in September, October & November
A few years ago, if you’d asked trekkers what their favorite trekking seasons were, they’d have said summer and winter without a second thought. But now, there is one more contender on the list, and it is quickly gaining popularity year on year, becoming a favorite for many, and rightly so. We are talking about autumn! There are many reasons why.
Weather Predictability: With the offset of the monsoon, weather activity in the Himalayas becomes more predictable; in fact, trekking in general becomes safer and in favor of the trekkers.
The Scenery: After the monsoon, the air tends to become clearer, and the sky is at it's bluest due to clear visibility; you can easily see mountains that are kilometer's away. Honestly, it feels like you are in the windows wallpaper.
Best of both seasons: You get the best of both seasons. Because it is a transitional season, you encounter snow as well as withering monsoon flowers. The whole scenery looks like something straight out of a movie set.
The Colors: The flowers and grass adopt different shades of red, golden and amber. The carpet of golden leaves on the trail looks otherworldly, making you feel like you're walking on gold. The color contrast is as good as it can be.
Fewer Crowds: Because it is a transitional season between the busiest and most popular seasons, there are fewer crowds.
