1. Satopanth Expedition – 7,075 m
Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, Satopanth is both a spiritual and mountaineering challenge. Its name means Path of Truth. The climb includes glacier crossings, steep snow slopes, and crevasse navigation.
Region: Uttarakhand (Gangotri Glacier)
Duration: 21 days
Grade: Difficult / Technical
Best Season: May–June and September
2. Kalindi Khal Pass – 6,000 m
One of the toughest high-altitude passes in India, Kalindi Khal connects Gangotri to Badrinath through glaciers, moraines, and remote camps.
Region: Uttarakhand
Duration: 14 days
Grade: Challenging
Highlights: Shivling views, Vasuki Tal, remote Himalayan camps
3. Black Peak (Kala Nag) – 6,387 m
Black Peak, also known as Kala Nag, is the highest peak in the Bandarpunch range. It involves glacier travel, rope sections, and breathtaking summit views.
Region: Uttarkashi
Duration: 16 days
Grade: Technical / Advanced
Ideal For: Climbers preparing for their first 6000+ peak
4. Kedar Dome – 6,831 m
Kedar Dome rises near the sacred Kedarnath region. It offers a powerful combination of spiritual significance and mountaineering challenge.
Region: Gangotri Glacier, Uttarakhand
Duration: 17 days
Grade: Moderate to Difficult
Highlights: Shivling views, snow slopes, spiritual atmosphere
5. Bhagirathi Peaks – 6,512 m
The Bhagirathi Peaks, especially Bhagirathi III, are famous for steep rock and ice climbing.
Region: Gangotri Valley
Duration: 23 days
Grade: Advanced
Interesting Fact: The Bhagirathi River is believed to be the origin of the sacred Ganga.
6. Shivling Peak – 6,543 m
Shivling is often called the Matterhorn of India. Its pyramid shape and technical climb make it one of the most beautiful peaks in the Himalayas.
Region: Tapovan, Gangotri
Duration: 23 days
Grade: Highly Technical
Best Season: May–June and September
7. Ranglana Peak – 5,554 m
Ranglana Peak is a lesser-known but spectacular climb offering glacier routes and views of Swargarohini and Bandarpunch.
Region: Sankri Range, Uttarkashi
Duration: 20 days
Ideal For: Intermediate climbers
Best Season: May to October
8. Bandarpunch Peak – 6,316 m
Bandarpunch is a mythological peak believed to be where Hanuman extinguished his burning tail.
Region: Govind National Park, Uttarakhand
Duration: 17 days
Grade: Moderate to Technical
Best Season: Pre-monsoon and post-monsoon
9. Mt. Kamet – 7,756 m
Mt. Kamet is one of India’s highest peaks and a serious mountaineering challenge.
Region: Chamoli, Uttarakhand (Zaskar Range)
Duration: 25 days
Grade: Extreme
Note: Special permits are required through IMF.
10. Nanda Ghunti – 6,309 m
Nanda Ghunti forms the outer rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary and is often used as preparation for larger Himalayan climbs.
Region: Chamoli, Uttarakhand
Duration: 17 days
Grade: Moderate to Difficult
Best Season: May–June and September–October
