Bagini Glacier Trek  is an untouched adventurous trek with raw beauty in Garhwal Himalayas. Towering at a height of 4515 meters it gives you the opportunity to witness great Himalayan peaks i.e. Changbang, Kalanka and Dunagiri.

Bagini Glacier flows down from origin Trishul peaks and Changbang (northwards) and then then Bagini River joins waters of Dunagiri glacier (westwards) ahead Lampak stream joins it and they flow into Dhauli Ganga.

Bagini Glacier Trek is a wonderful trek which is located near Joshimath village of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand Himalaya

specially in the months of  may,  and June, snow is found in abundance here, which makes your trek very memorable and also a little difficult after Longatulli base camp. So this trek should not be considered too easy trek

Bagini Glacier trek  is Moderate trek , this trek comes in a moderate level,  I myself have done this trek sometimes with me, people who are trekking for the first time, we have done the entire trek, they used to need help somewhere, which we and our team used to help.

This trek is a bit difficult, Longatulli base camp after uphill trek  but if your fitness is good and you have it in your mind that I want to trek then you can do it absolutely. Where help is needed, our guides will support you, you just have to be strong and capable of the trek. One thing is that all you can do is to have courage and I myself am passionate.

Short Itinerary  Bagini Glacier Trek

Day-1 – Pickup to you from haridwar railway station drive to  Joshimath (2049 m) (276 km) (11 hours)

Day-2 – Drive from Joshimath to Jumma and trek to Ruing village (2800 m) (3 km)

Day-3 – Trek from Ruin village to Dronagiri village (3610 m) (8 km)

Day-4 – Trek from Dronagiri village to Longatulli (3800 m) (6 km)

Day-5 – Trek from Longatulli to Basecamp (4484 m) (5 km)

Day-6 – Trek from Basecamp to Bagini Glacier (4515 m) and return (10 km) (5/6 hours)

Day-7 – Trek from Basecamp to Ruing village (18 km) ( 7/8 hours) overnight stay camp

Day-8 – Ruing village to Jumma Road head   (3 km) (2 hours) same day Drive to Joshimath via taxi

Day-9 –  Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar  (276  km) (11 hours)

How to Reach  Bagini Glacier  Trek

You can book trains, air flights, and bus tickets for your journey only according to the information given by us.

The Bagini Glacier trek will be of  07 days and 02 days of your journey total of 09 Days from Haridwar to Haridwar

First of all, all the trekkers will have to book their flight and train bus according to our time table as our pick up is from 6 am to 7 am, you will have to reach Haridwar in the morning.

A taxi from Himalayan hikers will link you to the Haridwar railway station.

Himalayan Hikers organize transport to Joshimath base camp from Haridwar railway station. Our vehicles leave at 6:00 am to 7:00 am sharp from Haridwar.

In the Haridwar railway station, you will get our staff that will arrange transport for you. The contacts no Transport coordinator or our office team will give you a week ago to your departure

Please you guys book your transport facility according to your own time table, after Himalayan Hikers take all the responsibility of Haridwar to Haridwar, that you will not face any problem.

Day 1: Haridwar to Joshimath -276 km 

Vehicle will be arranged from Dehradun Railway station and departure time is 6:30 in the morning. Drive is along the bank of River Ganga, after you reach Devprayag relish the sight of Bhagirathi River gushing into River Alaknanda.

The mountain views are amazing along the flowing river from Devprayag confluence. Have lunch en route and in the evening reach Joshimath. The arrangements will be made in a guest house or a hotel there.

Day 2 : Joshimath to Jumma and trek to Ruing village

Post breakfast the drive is towards Jumma, it is a village lying near Tibetan borderand you can reach there in an hour. En route lies many villages and Dhauliganga River.

Being close to the Tibetan border the winds are fierce there. Start the trek to Ruing village, cross a bridge over Dhauliganga River and then the ascent begins. Pass through the steep forested sections and in 2 -3 hours Ruing can be reached.

The stay can be at Ruing village and also 2-3 km ahead at a grassland. Setup your camps, have food and retire for the night.

Day 3 : Ruin village to Dronagiri village

The trail is through the forest with ups and downs. Further are landslide prone areas and the terrain changes to steep and dusty with some stream crossing the path?

A cemented road takes you to the village and offers great views of some High Himalayan peaks i.e. Ghori Parvat, Hathi Parvat and other snow clad mountains. The blooming flowers and greenery all around in summers will leave you speechless.

Setup your camps and retire for the night.

Day 4 : Dronagiri village to Longatulli

Post breakfast leave Dronagiri village, start climbing a high ridge and get the first view of Rishi peak and distant view of Bagini Nala. After a 30 minutes hike reach concrete bridge over Bagini Nala.

Now, the area changes from all green to no vegetation and full of boulders. After an hour hike reach a green patch beside a stream and ahead lies Longatulli’s camping ground. Pitch your camps there and retire for the night.

Day 5 : Longatulli to Basecamp

Today reach the Basecamp, the trail is rocky and the campsite is a plain barren land.

This place offers extraordinary views of Hardeul, Satminal and Rishi Pahar. Setup your camps here and retire for the night.

Day 6 : Basecamp to Bagini Glacier

Wake up early so that you can witness the sunrise from base camp of Changbang, it lies before 3-4 km before advanced base camp.

From Bagini advanced base camp the trail to Changbang base camp is an ascending one with many moraines, it offers views of Rishi, Trishul, Changbang, Hathi, Ghori, Dunagiri (east), Garur and Satminal. Spot many crevasses on the Bagini Glacier.

Day 7 : Basecamp to Ruing village

Post breakfast retrace your steps by passing through Dronagiri village and reach Ruing. Setup your camps and retire for the night.

Day 8: Ruing village to Joshimath via Jumma

Bid adieu to this place and start the descent to road head of Jumma. Reach there in 3 to 4 hours, vehicles will be arranged to reach Joshimath.

Day 9 : Joshimath to Haridwar (276 km)

Have breakfast and depart to Haridwar or Dehradun via Rishikesh and take many memories with you.

Note: –  Many trekkers commit the same mistake of carrying unnecessary items on a trek which only makes the backpack heavy. It is important to know the right items to carry.
It differs from season to season if you are trekking in summers then carry less layers of warm clothing and if you are trekking in winters carry enough layers to protect yourself against chilly cold.

Necessary Items for trekkers

Backpack (50 to 60 liters)
A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)

Sturdy Trekking Shoes
The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.

The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek
Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.

Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.

Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.

Layers of warm Clothing 
Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.

Thermals – The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.

T- Shirts – Bring those t shirts which dry fast.

Poncho –They are needed if you are trekking on a Rainy day to keep you dry.
