Divine Lake

Vasuki Tal lies in the region of Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 4978 m. It is 5 km ahead Kedarnath Dham, which is a Hindu pilgrimage. It is a divine lake formed by the melting waters of Mt. Vasuki. The water of this lake is crystal clear and it is named “Vasuki Tal” as it appears like snake Vasuki curled around the neck of Lord Shiva.

The myths related to this place

Vasuki Tal is at a high altitude surrounded by glaciers, there is no vegetation but you can see Brahama Kamal and other flowers around this divine lake. This lake is related to Hindu mythology and it is said that Lord Vishnu took bath in it at the time of Rakshabandhan (Hindu festival) which purified this lake. From here you will get extremely beautiful views of Chaukhamba Peaks and other majestic Himalayan ranges.

Thrill of crossing Gangotri glacier

Vasuki Tal is the origin of Vasuki Ganga base of Mt. Satopath and Mt. Vasuki. This lake freezes in winters and the best time to visit here is May, June, Sep and Oct. You have to cross Gangotri glacier and trek on rocky terrain to reach Vasuki Tal which makes this trek an adventurous one. This is a moderate trek but no words can explain the beauty of this place it can only be felt so if you are exploring places Vasuki Tal should be a “must do” trek in your adventure list.

We serve three meals a day including snacks and soup. A variety of delectable and healthy food is provided which includes; Indian, Chinese and other Western meals. They are nutritious and keeps you fit and healthy on your trek.

  1. Day 1 Dehradun to Gangotri (245 km) (10/12 hours) (10,145 feet)

    Our vehicle picks you up from Dehradun then leaves for Uttarkashi through the route of Mussorie which take 5 to 6 hours. You can see Tehri Lake during the journey.

    Drive to Gangotri along the right bank of River Ganga (Bhagirathi) in middle of the way visit Gangnani, hot spring you can take sulphur bath in it.  On the way you will get the views of Great Himalayas, Harshil and alluring green forest. Check in a hotel and in the evening visit holy city Gangotri, at 7 pm attend Siromani Arti of river Ganga, as Ganga is a sacred river, it is worshiped by people.

    In the evening you can explore this place on you own then dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

  2. Day 2 Gangotri (10,145 feet) to Chirbasa (11,761 feet)

    Start your trek to Chirbasa, the name of this place is Chirbasa because Pine trees are known as “Chir” in Hindi and you can find pine trees all over here. Now, you have to go through a market then the trail is through forest area, you will see many peaks in front of you and after some time you will come across waterfalls, the trail is leveled and the walk is easy. You have to cross a stream over a bridge when you cross that bridge a valley opens up, the big snow-capped mountains will mesmerize you.

    After crossing the third ridge you will reach a valley with pine trees, when you cross this valley you will reach a place where the trail is in between the boulders; it can be called boulder zone, walk carefully as there are many rocks or stones on the way, keep following the trail.

    The way to Chirbasa is through forest, it is few minutes away now, and there is a camping ground in Chirbasa near Bhagirathi River which makes this campsite more beautiful. From here you will get views of Bhagirathi peaks and glance of Gaumukh glacier. Setup your tents here, overnight stay and dinner in camps.

  3. Day 3 Chirbasa (11,761 feet) to Bhojbasa (12,761 feet)

    Start trek to Bhojbasa after TM Program and breakfast. The trail is widen now and you can easily reach Bhojbasa as the climb isn’t tough. You will come across many landslide prone areas on the way

    As you go higher near Bhojbasa you will encounter breathtaking views of Bhagirathi peaks, and magnificent view of Mt. Shivling, Sanyasis and Sadhus can be seen in the caves. There are places where you can take hot drinks in comfortable small tent shops.

    Cross ridges, it will take some time and the trail becomes rocky and barren. Bhojbasa is the widest point in the valley, campsite is in a plain terrain from where you can get magnificent views of the peaks and Bhagirathi River flows beside.

    Bhojbasa has a small temple, you can explore the area in the afternoon, the sunset in the evening is entrancing, and the sun sets behind the Bhagirathi group of Peaks which makes them look glittering and extremely beautiful. Relish the beauty enjoy incredible scenery and sight of Mt. Shivling. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  4. Day 4 Bhojbasa (12,450 feet) to Tapovan (14,202 feet) via Gomukh

    Trek to Gomukh from Bhojbasa it is an easy trek. Gomukh is the source of River Ganga, it is known as Bhagirathi River when it comes out from here, people worship this place, and it appears like a cow’s mouth so it is named as Gomukh. Today the trail is steep and most difficult climb from Gomukh to Tapovan.

    There flows a stream called Akash Ganga, the trail remains fully covered by snow, there is hard ice and boulders in some areas, the climb to Gangotri glacier from here becomes very steep so you have to walk carefully so that you don’t get slipped. It is difficult to find the route to the top so a local guide is highly required. Make sure you reach there before lunch. But, as you climb higher the views get majestic and clearer, now you can see the tall peaks clearly in front of you.

    The climate gets very cold but some saints permanently live here so you can take inspiration from them and trek towards Tapovan after having lunch. Trek from Gaumukh to Tapovan is a steep ascent and it will take 2 hours to reach there, when you reach Tapovan you will clearly see Mt. Shivling which looks extremely beautiful and from here you will get the best sight of it. Mt. Meru Bhagirtahi Peaks are clearly visible from here.

    Tapovan is a large meadow below Mt. Shivling suitable for camping further there is Neel Tal from where  you can get more clearer views of Mt. Meru it takes 2 hours of climb to reach there. Find a suitable place for camping in the meadow of Tapovan, place your tents there, dinner and overnight stay in the tents.

  5. Day 5 Explore Tapovan and Neel Tal Chaukhamba shivling base

    After having breakfast visit Himalayan Tapovan (4500m) Here Yogis and Sadhus meditate in caves. The day is spent on acclimatization and relaxation. You can enjoy the enthralling view of snow covered peaks and enjoy the serene environment far from hustle and bustle of busy lives. There are mountain landscapes which you can visit.

    Tapovan has heavenly lakes and it is just below Mt. Shivling Peak, you can enjoy serendipity in peace or you can explore Neel Tal to get clearer views of Mt. Meru, it will take 2 hours to reach there and plan your return before lunch. There is so much to explore, you can explore or rest in your camps. Then Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  6. Day 6 Tapovan (14,345 feet) to Nandanvan (14345 feet)

    Today is the most difficult day of your trek as you will be crossing Gangotri glacier to reach Nandanvan, so have your breakfast early in the morning.

    Start your trek by climbing the ridge of Tapovan, you have to cross Akash Ganga stream after that reach Gangotri Glacier and find a way to descend down, and it is hard to find the way there so an experienced guide must be with you, you will get captivating views of group of Bhagirathi peaks glistening in front of you.

    On glacier you will find thick ice, broken pieces or remains of rocks and big boulders, trekking on Gangotri glacier is difficult as it is slippery and the rocks can fall so you need to be careful. On glacier you will find thick ice, broken pieces or remains of rocks and big boulders, it will take 2 hours to cross this glacier.

    Descend now and you have to climb up 100 metres to reach Nandanvan the climb is through a landslide prone area. The Nandanvan meadow is at the base of Bhagirathi, it is a meadow and camping is done here. When you reach Nandanvan, you will have mesmerizing and clear views of Mt. shivling, Mt. Meru, Kedar Dome. The meadow is windy as it is at high altitude and you get majestic and enthralling views of snow-capped mountains around you.

    Setup your tents on the camping ground enjoy the enchanting views of this place, then Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  7. Day 7 Nandanvan to Vasuki tal (6 km) (6/7 hours) (16332 feet)

    Vasuki Tal is the basecamp of Mt. Satopath and Mt. Vasuki. You will be trekking along Chaturangi glacier to reach Vasuki Tal, it is believed that in it Lord Vishnu took bath.

    The aura of this place is divine, many of the places are related to Hindu mythology, and Vasuki Tal is one of those places. To reach there you have to walk on rocky terrain, ascend isn’t very difficult but is long and you may get tired. You will get the entrancing views of Chaturangi glacier.

    Vasuki Tal is all covered by the lake freezes in winters, you can see Brahma Kamal and other Himalayan flowers shining around this exciting lake, explore this area as it has beautiful views to offer and a unique lake. It will take time to reach there so overnight stay will be there in tents.

    Setup your tents and enjoy your meal there after that overnight stay in tents.

  8. Day 8 Vasukital to Nandanvan (6 km) (4/5 hours)

    Head back to Nandanvan, the walk is downwards, it is a 6 km trek downwards, start you descend early as weather is unpredictable and can change at any time.

    Trek back from the same route and reach Nandanvan campsite, have your lunch there. Spend good time together exploring the views. Then dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  9. Day 9 Nandanvan to Bhojbasa camp (12 km) (6/7 hours)

    Trek down to Bhojbasa with a short stop at Gomukh. Enjoy mesmerizing sunrise on high peaks which shines golden, you can see the changing colours of the peaks because of dawn. It looks extremely beautiful, it takes a lot of courage and efforts to witness these moments but they are worth your efforts.

    On arrival at Bhojbasa take rest and have lunch and retrace the route to arrive the camp at Bhojbasa. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

  10. Day 10 Bhojbasa camp (12,763 feet) to Gangotri (10145 feet) (6/7 hours) (14 km)

    Today is the last day of your trek, descend till Gangotri famous for pilgrimage site, and reach there after 6 to 7 hours of trek.

    Explore this place in the evening, spend some time here knowing about beliefs of people, the climate here is pure and divine.

    Spend your night in a hotel.

  11. Day 11 Back to Dehradun

    Leave early so that you can reach Dehradun on time.

Cancellation Policy?It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows
- Cancellation up to 30 Days: You will get Refund of 90 Precent of Trek/adventure program cost.
- Cancellation between 21 to 30 days– You will get refund of 50 Precent of Trek/Adventure/Tour/Travel/Hotel program cost.
- Cancellation in less than 20 days – No refund
