Myself & my friend had decided to go for the lamkhaaga pass trek this year. We also had spoken to one other agency who was getting this trek done from the chitkul side, but had to drop the plan due to date issues. Then while exploring other options, we stumbled upon the himlayan hikers website who had listed the same trek & the dates were also convenient. But we were little concerned that the trek was from the harsil side. Spoke to mr.kuldeep singh from himalayan hikers & he was kind enough to explain us on the route taken. The booking procedure was simple & payments were flexible.
All the required info were shared with us before hand. Himalayan hikers are very professional & took care of all the formalities including the permits etc in a very good way.
The support staff like porters, guides, cooks were all very nice people who had done many such treks in the past. They were very polite & helpful throughout the trek. The quality of food served was excellent. One of the founder member of himalayan hikers, mr. chain singh rawat accompanied is for this trek. His bast experience n the field of high altitude treks helped us in many ways. He made sure that all the 9 members of our team would complete the summit by overcoming any issues that we come accross during our trek, either because of medical conditions due to high altitude or due to some lack of confidence.
In the end, the entire team was able to complete the summit successfully as per the itenirary. It was great experience with himalayan hikers & would definitely look forward to have more treks with them in the future. Would also recommend them to our friends as well.

Many organisations are operating nowadays who arrange trekking/expeditions in the Himalayas. Himalayan Hikers is one of them. But they are a little bit different owing to the following aspects : 1. They listen to the trekkers beforehand, talk to them, understand their desires and plan/organise the trip accordingly. 2. Whatever they commit, they deliver. Be it on fixtures, itinerary, fooding, etc. 3.They are flexible and very much cooperative with the trekkers. 4. Especially their cooking unit is unparallely exotic – can’t forget the custard or jams at the high altitudes; thanks Thapa, the cook. 5. Their support staff are extremely helpful, and more important, they are very much friendly – you will soon feel that they are just your friends, co-trekkers, not just support staff. 6.Finally their is KULDEEP. You can simply rely on him. ?

  3. Sandipan Ghosh

The trek across Lamkhaga Pass was organized by Kuldeepji of Himalayan Hikers. It was the organisation’s maiden journey across the difficult pass which was done with great success. Consisting of eight partially trained and experienced trekkers from West Bengal, Himalayan Hikers crossed Lamkhaga Pass on 28th May in knee deep snow (23.5.2019 to 30.5.2019) travelling from Harsil via Laldevta, Kyarkoti and Sukha Taal crossing Lamkhaga Pass and reaching Gundar, Dumti, Rani Kandar, Nagasthi, and then the road head at Chitkul. Consisting of 2 guides Kishanji from Uttarkashi (mountaineer) and Tirappanji from Sakri (not trained but vastly experienced) and consisting of Santu Thapa the cook and the team of 9 porters and assistant staff, the support team consisting of the white bearded Virendra Singh Rathoreji, the ever-smiling aged but strong Premji, the Lambu (Pandit), and the young brigade of porters provided a source of strength to the 8 members who carried their own rucksacks.

Weather was a barrier on the first two days (it was raining heavily) and the team was behind schedule right from Day 2. However, there was no pressure to move faster as the team acclimatized gradually, hitting snow line on Day 3 and pitched tents on snow for 3 consecutive days.

Day 5 on High Camp was without water as the team melted ice to survive. Using good shoes and gaiter and walking crampons (the last two provided by Himalayan Hikers) the team crossed the pass with much ease. With lots if snow, there were no dangers but movement in mid day melting knee deep snow was slow and tiring.

Food was the provider of real strength as varieties apart from rice, dal, chapati included muesli, Maggie, corn flakes with milk, plum cake with honey, Suji, upma, omelette, bread, butter, jam, custard and what not. Frequent tea and coffee, hot drinks and warm water kept our spirits high and body healthy.

Thank you Kuldeepji. Look forward to trekking with you again.
