This lake is in the Western Garhwal region at an altitude of 4,600 meter, located amidst Supin and Nalgan valley. This area is intensely remote and it remained untouched since many years until the shepherds found the trail to this thrilling lake.

Kanasar Lake remains covered by ice and snow most of the time, even in the month of June and a thin layer of ice is present on the surface which adds beauty to this lake. As the area is remote and the trail is challenging not many trekkers visit here and the people visiting this place experience the spell bound beauty which is naturally inherited. Adventure lovers are welcomed by this lake to explore the mystery of this place.
This is named as “Kanasar” because this lake resembles spots in a blind person’s eye, it is one kilometer long and has got ravishing sight. Every year villagers visit this place during a festival, it would be delighted to visit Kanasar Lake at the time of festival. The ambiance of this place is divine as and the surroundings can be compared to heaven.
The great peaks which are visible from there are Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur mountains and Garhwal mountains from Nalgan Pass. The campsites are mesmerising, you will get perfect camping sites here, and trail will take you through peaceful forest of Rhododendrons, Pine and Birch. You must do this trek because you can also visit Baraadsar Lake en route which is known as wish fulfilling lake.

Dehradun Railway Station to Dhaula (Drive (207 km) (7/8 hours) (5,100 feet)
Base for Rupin Pass trek is Dhaula (5,100 ft). The drive to Dhaula Camp (from where the Rupin pass trek starts) is one of the most picturesque drives in the Himalayas through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainbagh, Damta, Nawgao, Purola, Mori, Netwar along the Tons River. Rupin pass trek is one of the easiest treks in the Himalayas to enjoy the beauty of kinnaur valley which is thickly covered by snow.
The Rupin valley trek campsite is great for bird watching and the chirping of birds makes the morning fresh and beautiful. Beauty surrounds it. The drive to Dhaula camp is one of the beautiful mountain roads and steadily gain altitude as you reach Dhaula. There are deep valleys and thick forests, this place is rich in flora and fauna.
You will have to reach Dehradun on your own, and from the Dehradun Railway Station transport will be organized by us till Dhaula. It is approximately 8/9 hours of drive.
Himari to Sarutal (7km) (5/6 hours) (2000 m)
Today trek is through some high altitude villages, first you have to reach Himri and to reach there you have to cross a ridge, the climb is steep and your trek starts by passing through pine forest, the climb is steep take breaks and continue your ascend.
The trail is confusing so be aware and follow your trek leader there are no water streams on the way so carry enough water with you. After 4 hours of ascend you reach Bitri village. This village is beautiful there are wooden houses and the villagers are warm, they welcome by greeting you, there is a school in Bitri and a temple there, the temple is in Kinnauri stylewhich is the main attraction for people, spend some-time here exploring this place and lifestyle of people living here. After having lunch, now start your trek towards Sarutal.
Sarutal is a lake in middle of a meadow, this is your campsite today. This site is soothing; far from hustle and bustle of city. Relax here enjoy your meal and night-stay in tents.
Sarutal to Badang (8 km) (5/6 hours) (2600 m)
Badang is a picturesque meadow and this is a perfect desirable campsite with fascinating beauty. Today’s trek would be moderate and there are only ascends.
After witnessing great morning views from Sarutal have breakfast and leave for Badang, in the starting the climb is steep and the way is rocky after 1 hour of climb you will come across a stream from there pine forest starts which you have to cross, the trail gets leveled from there and after a level walk ascend starts.
You can spot Langoor families and Himalayan birds this place is rich in Flora and Fauna so animals live in this region. Reach Badang a splendid meadow which is surrounded by Deodar forest. The water source is a flowing stream near campsite. Enjoy your dinner there and overnight stay in tents.
Badang to Masunda Dhar (Vijay Top) (9 Km) (4/5 hours) (3600 m)
Have your breakfast at Badang and leave for Masunda Dhar, today’s trek is a long one, it is not very steep but is long so you may get tired. Carry enough water with you and refill your water bottles from water sources.
Start your trek by entering Oak forest it may take 3-4 hours to cross this forest and there will be some ascends after this the forest starts to get thin. As you go higher you gain altitude and Badang is 1000 feet down. This place is Vijay Top and after 1 km you will reach Masunda Dhar.
From here you will get the majestic view of peaks covering this place, the sight from here is mesmerising it is visitor’s attraction. This place is above the tree line and the top point of Supin valley. Vishkhopri and Khimloga Pass are visible from here. Head towards Masunda Dhar, it separates the two valleys Rupin and Supin, this campsite has some amusing view of peaks in all directions.
The sunrise from Masunda Dhar is very special as the peaks look orange. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Masunda Dhar to Devbasa via Daldhar (5/7 km) (4/5 hours) (3650 m)
The morning views from Masunda Dhar are gorgeous as the rising sun reflects orange light on peaks which adds beauty to them and they look beautiful as never before. Wake up early and don’t miss to witness the sunrise from this high point. Then have your breakfast in camps and leave for Dev basa, our next campsite and in 4-5 hours you will reach there.
Now, from Masunda Dhar you have to go from one mountain ridge to another, walk through meadows for 30 minutes and when you go further some amazing views of Swargarohini, BandarpoonchandRalgan will welcome you. Continue walking on the ridge it will take more than four hours and you can see Rhododendrons growing there in abundance. The peaks are in front and the sight is scenic, you get 180 degree view from here.
Continue walking there are some descends but you have to cross one ridge than another after one hour you are going to reachDhaldhar.From Dhal dhar it will take two hours to reach your campsite Dev basa, this area is plain and rocky and it is the place which joins two mountains. You can see Rocky Mountains around you and this campsite is windy because this is at high altitude and the area s rocky. From Dev basa Gangotri range and the trail of Baraadsar is visible.
Setup your tents here, relax in your tents as tomorrows trek will be a difficult one. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Dev Basa to Baraadsar Ridge (7 km) (4/5 hours) (4,400 m)
Today’s trek is the longest one on rough trail from Dev Basa to the meadow of Baraadsar, you can take any of the two routes. The short one is steep and you have to cross a pass to directly reach your campsite and the long one is by taking a round of the mountain and from that point campsite is 3 hours away. Choose according to your capability.
The trail is risky, there are rocks and big boulders, and you can see the path on the other side of ridge is made up of rocks which is dangerous. The weather here is extremely cold so carry enough woollen clothes. This campsite has no source of water and it will be chilling cold there, you get water there by melting the snow.
From Baraadsar ridge you can see Baraadsar Lake from a distance and the ridges surround you from three sides. Reach campsite set up tents, relax and warm yourself enjoy Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Baraadsar Lake to Kukurkandi (6 km) (4/5 hours)
Don’t miss out the sunrise, it is bliss to watch sunrise from the places which are undisturbed, the colour of the peaks changes to orange and golden when the sun reflects it’s light on them.
The local people of that area believe that wishes never go unfulfilled here, so do make a wish to try out if it gets true. Have your breakfast early and leave for Kukurkandi which is your campsite for today. It is 6 km away from here and it will take 4-5 hours to reach there.
Kukurkandi is a meadow which is the most beautiful place which comes after Baraadsar Lake, when you reach there you will see mesmerising beauty of that Thach. Today you will be spending your night there in the Kukurkandi meadow. You have come half way of your trek and day after tomorrow you will reach your destination Kanasar Lake.
Setup you tents here in this ravishing campsite, enjoy the views from here, the air is refreshing and the environment is serene here. Relax here praising the beauty of this place. Have your meals and enjoy the food and night stay in camps.
Kukurandi to Manjiban (7 km) (5/6 hours)
Wake up early and see the beautiful morning view with a hot cup of tea it will be cold there but the hot tea will make you feel good. Today’s trek is 7 km long and you will reach Manjiban in 5-6 hours.
Lunch will be packed for you because today is a long trek, have lunch in middle of the day. Take breaks on your trek and keep walking on the right trail, a local guide must be with you to guide you properly.
Reach Manjiban, now you are close to Kansar Lake and tomorrow is your trek towards the divine sacred lake. Manjiban campsite is beautiful, on this trek the campsites are ideal and you will get beautiful views of mountains which are clearly visible.
The fetching views will make you spellbound, enjoy your food and overnight stay in tents.
Manjiban to Kanasar Lake (3 km) on same day to Vishkhopri (8 km)
Manjiban to Kanasar Lake is a short trek but the route is rough so it may take time to reach there. Today is the day when you will reach your destination “Kanasar Lake” it remains covered by the layers of ice and is surrounded by snow. The path to this lake is steep and it gets inaccessible in winters as it totally gets covered by snow.
When you reach this place you can see the magnificent views of Kinnaur Mountains. The vicinity of this place is serene and the aura is bracing which is very different from the regular hustle and bustle of life. The Lake is deep; people visiting there on regular basis have told this. It is worshiped by the villagers and they visit this holy lake every year during a festival for bath of their deity. Spend some time around this high altitude lake and capture moments.
You need to put up a lot of energy to reach this point but this lake is worth watching and the feeling which you get when you reach here is inexplicable. After having good time here leave for Vishkhopri, this is at an altitude of 3,566 metres and this place is almost untouched, this place has a mythological story of Pandavas, you can ask the stories from the local guide and enjoy night stay and food in tents.
Viskhopri to Liwari Village (14 km)
Today you are going to descend down to the Liwari village in Mori, it is a village of 135 houses. Today’s trek is 14 km long and is a combination of steep and leveled descend.
Today is the last day of your trek so don’t miss out the mesmerising views from this place, you get beautiful mountain views from here. When you descend down the trail gets steep and there is screen on the route so you need to be careful while walking down.
While one the way bid goodbye to this place, the trail is through beautiful forest and some meadows. After crossing these paths you will reach you campsite for today that is Liwari village. Talk to villagers, they warmly welcome the people visiting there, then have your meal and overnight stay in tent.
Liwari village to Jakhol (14 km) on same day to Sankri
Wake up early have your breakfast and you can see people already working in their fields and are busy with their cows and sheeps. Leave for Jakhol which is 14 km from village Liwari.
Reach Jakhol which is a famous village located in Mori, when you reach there take a break and leave for Sankri by Taxi. Sankri has a mini market which is a trekkers delight as it is Base Camp of 26 treks. It remains busy with the hustle and bustle of people.
We have a hotel there named “Swargarohini Palace” have your meal there, we also serve our traditional food and enjoy your night stay in a hotel.
Sankri to Dehradun by taxi (210 km) (7/8 hours)
After having breakfast, leave early for Dehradun so that you can reach there around 6:00 to 6:30 pm in the evening. Have you lunch in the middle of your journey.

It is wise to make your booking at least two months in advance. In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows
Cancellation up to 30 Days: You will get Refund of 90% of Trek/adventure program cost.
Cancellation between 21 to 30 days– You will get refund of 50% of Trek/Adventure/Tour/Travel/Hotel program cost.

– Use medicines only when prescribed by the doctor in case you face any problem in your trek, take advice from Professional guide before taking any medicine.
– Drinking water is necessary during your trek, keep 1 litre of water bottle filled and drink it on proper interval of time, it is very important while hiking.
- If the trek is cancelled by us due to any reason (heavy snowfall, rainfall, natural disaster etc.) then the refund would not be initiated but you can go on the same trek another year.
