Devkyara is an ecstatic meadow which highlights Obra Gad, this meadow is the major attraction of this region which lies at an altitude of 4,100m.

The Devkyara meadow is approximately 4 km long; camping here is a bliss! It offers magnificent view of the Rangnala peak and sight of high ridges and unnamed Himalayan peaks.

The scenic vistas and bracing climate of the hills are ravishing. This valley is also known as “The Valley of Gods“.

It has a mythological tale related to it. The Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata took the route via Swargarohini while their ascent to heaven.

From the highest point of this picturesque valley the stunning peaks visible are – Swargarohini (I) (II) (III) Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, Ruinsara and many more high Himalayan peaks.

Day 1 – Dehradun to Sankri (210 km) (7/8 hours)

Day 2 – Sankri to Jakhol (19 km) and trek to Obra (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Day 3- Obra to Himari (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Day 4 – Himarito Bhawa (5 km) (3/4 hours)

Day 5- Bhawa to Devkyara (4,100m) (5 km) (4/5 hours)

Day 6- Devkyara to Ratta Dho base (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Day 7 – Ratta Dho base to Ratta Dho (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Day 8 – RattaDho to Har Ki Dun (3645 m) (7 km) (5/6 hours)

Day 9 – Har Ki Dun to Haldwai (7 km) (5/6 hours)

Day 10 – Haldwai to Cheludgad/Seema (9 km) (5/6 hours)

Day 11 – Cheludgad/Seema to Taluka (13 km) (2400 m) and Drive to Sankri

Day 12 – Drive from Sankri to Dehradun (210 km) (7/8 hours)

Day 1 : Dehradun to Sankri (210 km) (7/8 hours)

Start from Dehradun railway station and you will reach Sankri in 7/8 hours. The journey is through some picturesque villages, cross the entry gate of Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, Sankri lies there.

Sankri is a small village with less number of houses, there is a famous mini market of Sankri with few wooden huts serving traditional and delicious food. From here you can have a glance of some Himalayan mountain ranges.

This is the base camp of more than 20 treks, rest in hotel there have food and rest for the night.

Day 2 : Sankri to Jakhol (19 km) and trek to Obra (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Drive from Sankri to Jakhol is 19 km long and you can reach there inone and a half hour, the greenery will accompany you all along your journey.

Jakhol is a village in Mori, from there your trek stars to Obra Gad which is 6 km away. The trail goes through beautiful Himalayan villages. People living in mountains have a total different lifestyle and traditions, knowing about their traditional values and culture can change anyone as a person. So, do communicate with them on the way as they heartily welcome you.

You will come across some fields at Baincha Thach, ahead is a small temple and the architecture is beautiful and rare. The campsite is 1 km further, it is a wide meadow with ample of space for camping. Set your tents at the place and retire for the night.

Day 3 : Obra to Himari (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Wake up to the beautiful views and observe the morning freshness at the wide meadow. Post breakfast, leave Obra and head towards Himari your destination for today.

Pass through lush undulating meadows and witness the rich vegetation, enjoy walking through the dense forest sections. The trek today is 6 km long which can be covered in 4 to 5 hours.

Himariis a great campsite for birding and the snow covered mountains and villages surrounding it adds beauty to it.

Day 4 : Himari to Bhawa (5 km) (3/4 hours)

Post breakfast and with packed lunch head towards Bhawa, the trek is 5kms long. Enter the dense forest and continue ascending. When you exit the forest area, the lush green land opens up in front of you, blossoming with beautiful wildflowers.

This point is Bhawa which is the ridge’s high point and it divides the Obra valley. The views from here are very clear. To the north Fithari village is visible and towards right you can see Devkiyara. Setup your tents here and retire for the night.

Day 5 : Bhawa to Devkiyara (4,100m) (5 km) (4/5 hours)

Post breakfast start your trek with packed lunch, today’s trek is going to be the picturesque one, walk on the grassy slopes throughout the day.

Reach Devkiyara. It is a 4km long meadow surrounded by the peaks.
From here Daowdu and Rangnala Peak is visible.

Devkiyara meadows are beautiful stretched wide, camp here for today in the serenity. Setup your tents here and retire for the night.

Day 6 : Devkiyara toRatta Dho base (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Post breakfast, start the trek to RattaDho base. The distance to be cover is 6 km which can be covered in 4 to 5 hours. Climb the valley throughmuddy trail, cross this section and come across meadows.

Walk on the narrow trail to reach RattaDho, the hike isn’t very tough but some sections are steep. Reach the campsite, setup your camps and retire for the night.

Day 7 : Ratta Dho base to Ratta Dho (6 km) (4/5 hours)

RattaDho is also known as Lal Patthar. Today’s trek is not difficult but the distance to be covered is 6 km which can be covered in 4 to 5 hours’.

The trail is narrow and rough. Witness Maninda Lake en route and after a rough hike reach a picturesque lavish green meadow with many wildflowers blooming.

From this section climb gradual and reach Rattha Dho (Lal Patthar). It lies before Borasu Glacier. Setup your camps here, the campsite is very windy because of its high altitude and being ahead of the glacier.

Day 8: Ratta Dho to Har Ki Dun (3645 m) (7 km) (5/6 hours)

Post breakfast, leave the campsite and descend through the narrow trail. Reach a wide meadow and continue descending carefully on the muddy trail.

Now, on side of the river is a meadow, halt there for sometime then head to Har Ki Dun by following the trail on which the Har Ki Dun Ganga flows on right.

It is divided by the Karmanasha stream and from here, Swargarohini can be clearly seen standing tall in glory.

Get fascinated by the ecstatic views offered by this divine valley. Feel the divine aura and spirituality here at the “Valley Of Gods”. Setup your camps here and retire for the night.

Day 9 : Har Ki Dun to Haldwai (7 km) (5/6 hours)

Waking up in the perfect environment and witnessing sunrise from Har Ki Dun valley is magical. Observe every peak visible from there, have breakfast then leave for Haldwai, your next campsite.

The distance to be covered is 7 km and you can reach Haldwai in 5 to 6 hours, depends on your capability. Pass through rich Floral sections and if lucky spot Himalayan animals on the way. Take short halts while descending.

Reach the campsite, setup your camps there and retire for the night.

Day 10: Haldwai to Cheludgad/Seema (9 km) (5/6 hours)

Start the day young and after having breakfast head towards Seema. The trail offers spectacular views of the towering peaks.Ahead lies a green vast meadow, which will lead to the forest section.

Descending is easy but gets steep sometimes, so walk very carefully through these sections. The campsite for today ‘Seema’ is a small village and on the other side of the river Osla village is located which is the bigger one.

Setup your camps here and retire for the night.

Day 11: Cheludgad/Seema to Taluka (13 km) (2400 m) and Drive to Sankri

Cheludgad to Taluka is an easy descent. On the way have glance of peaks standing strong and the green landscapes.

Follow the same trail through rich forests. Spot birds and Langoors on the way. Reach Taluka, vehicles will be arranged from there and the arrangements will be made in Swargarohini hotel.

Day 12: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun (210 km) (7/8 hours)

Post breakfast leave for Dehradun, have lunch en route.

Note: –  Many trekkers commit the same mistake of carrying unnecessary items on a trek which only makes the backpack heavy. It is important to know the right items to carry.
It differs from season to season if you are trekking in summers then carry less layers of warm clothing and if you are trekking in winters carry enough layers to protect yourself against chilly cold.

A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)

Sturdy Trekking Shoes
The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.

The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek
Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.

Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.

Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.

Layers of warm Clothing 
Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.

Thermals – The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.

T- Shirts – Bring those t shirts which dry fast.

Poncho –They are needed if you are trekking on a Rainy day to keep you dry.
